One thing that I have never experienced in my 10 years of being in real estate is that the condo market has been stronger than the freehold market.  What do I mean by this?  

In the last year, the price of a condo has increased close to 10% while the price of a freehold home has DROPPED about 0.5%-5.6% SOURCE SOURCE SOURCE.  This means that you have a lot more equity in your condo that you didn’t even know that you have and freehold homes are on SALE right now.  The price of homes in some areas is still in 2016 prices.  But this is not going to last forever.  Look at this article from The Financial Post LINK.  The market has bottomed out and prices are coming back up.


Did you know that if you look for a home with a basement apartment then you will most likely be paying less than what you are paying in your condo and you will get a lot more room?  Possibly a backyard and a garage?
