Toronto Junction Business Spotlight // Simply Beautiful

Simply Beautiful is all about unique, handcrafted items curated by local Canadian makers. Owner Deborah, who’s also a curator of many of the beautiful things you’ll find in the shop, has made it her mission to find the perfect items to sell. 

Located in the heart of The Junction, Simply Beautiful is a place worth checking out. Whether you want to gift someone or gift yourself, the place has been positioned as somewhat of a “lifestyle” store.

Deborah has developed a healthy working relationship with the makers of all the items and brings them to the forefront for locals and visitors of the area to take advantage of. Everything in the store is unique. Nothing seems to be the same, nor will you find any of the items elsewhere. 

To find the makers, Deborah started out by travelling around Canada, particularly to the west coast. But being located in Toronto, there were a lot of other makers that she realized she wasn’t tapping into.

The focus then turned to starting relationships in Toronto and Montreal. Now, many of the makers come to Deborah. She’s big on showing customers who’s behind the items she sells, as they each have a story of their own to tell. 

Deborah chose the Junction to open up her shop after realizing that the particular section of the neighbourhood was somewhat empty. She eventually took advantage of a great building that was vacant and boarded up at the time.

It was a match made in heaven, as the owner of the building was looking to create a community of stores, which Deborah and Simply Beautiful had helped to do. All the stores in the building work collectively as a community to bring something special to that section of The Junction. 

The recent health crisis prompted Deborah to open up her online shop where customers can access her items online in addition to shopping in person. When COVID hit, the community stepped up and helped out a great deal.
