Junction Triangle Area Business Spotlight // TuckShop Kitchen

Located in the heart of the Junction Triangle, TuckShop Kitchen is a quaint neighbourhood take-out joint that specializes in burgers and sandwiches. And given the current pandemic that has forced restaurants to close indoor dining more than once, take-out is exactly what’s keeping businesses like TuckShop Kitchen thriving and the customers that they serve avoiding having to give up their favourite treats.

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding TuckShop Kitchen. Other than this take-out hot spot, there really are no other burger joints in the area.

The owners decided to set up shop in the neighbourhood thanks to its authentic community feel, which is a unique feature given the busyness of the surrounding city. The neighbourhood vibe was very appealing to the owners, which is a main reason why they decided that the Junction Triangle would be the spot for them to open their now-popular burger joint.

You can find TuckShop Kitchen at the corner of Edwin and Dupont and can’t miss its rustic red brick exterior and crimson door.

Starting off as a convenience-based business, TuckShop Kitchen began getting into catering. Today, the health crisis has forced them to focus on their take-out window as it was safer both for staff and for the public.

TuckShop Kitchen also produces their signature bacon products, including applewood smoked bacon that they make in-house. Customers can also find these products in a couple of online markets, as well as some local bakeries in the area.

Ask anyone who’s sampled a TuckShop Kitchen menu item, and they will surely rave about it and salivate at the mere thought of sinking their teeth into one of the burger joint’s award-winning sandwiches or burgers.

In addition to their infamous burgers and sandwiches, patrons can also enjoy homemade soups, salads, and a handful of items from their convenience section. Fun for both adults and kids alike (check out their stash of old-school candies, snacks, and ice cream varieties), TuckShop Kitchen has become a friendly neighbourhood stop for locals.

Easily the best lunch take-out restaurant in the area, TuckShop Kitchen is proud to offer daily specials. Their classic “Tuck Royale” burger is loaded with a homemade burger patty, house-smoked bacon, old cheddar, and jalapenos nestled on a sesame bun. This is a definite must-have for anyone visiting Tuck Shop for the first time.

But there are plenty of other noteworthy items on the menu, like the classic BLT, Grilled BBQ Chicken & Avocado Sandwich, Cobb Salad, and Turkey Burger. And for all the vegetarians out there, TuckShop Kitchen also offers its veggie version of a pulled pork sandwich (along with the real meat version), that can also be made vegan.

TuckShop Kitchen recently celebrated its 5-year anniversary in business. Recently featured in BlogTO, TuckShop Kitchen was named the  “Best Peameal Bacon Sandwiches in Toronto” and “Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich in Toronto”. And the locals of this community agree entirely with these accolades.
